After about 3 months of beta testing, Xiaomi has finally released the stable Android 9 Pie update for the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. This android pie update comes along with a stable version of MIUI V10.3.1.
Size of the Redmi Note 5 Pro OTA Update :
The OTA update with the package name ‘MIUI V10.3.1.0.PEIMIXM’ was released today( 31st May 2019) by afternoon. The update is quite heavy with a size of 1.6GB.
What’s new in this update(changelog) :
Talking about the changelog, there is only one change mentioned in the log, and that is the Android 9.0 update. Even though this seems to be a big update there isn’t much change in the user end.
But still there are a few minor changes like:
- Replacement of the Android version Easter egg from the octopus to the official pie logo.
- Inclusion of dark mode, which can be activated by going to Settings > Display > Dark mode
- A new animation is now present while the phone is plugged in for charging
- Slight improvement in Benchmark scores
- Removed the Follow us option in the settings page
There are is a con for this update, like if you had Camera2api enabled, this update will disable the API. So you will have to enable it again for using GCam mods.

After downloading the zip file, go to Settings > About Phone > System Update > Click the 3 dot menu in the top right section > Click ‘Choose update package’ > Select the downloaded zip file > Click’Ok’.

The installation will now begin and will take about 10 minutes or less. Make sure your battery is above 60%.
