Xiaomi Redmi 4A Gaming Review : The Budget gaming smartphone?

Xiaomi has already had one big success in 2017, selling over a million units of the Redmi Note 4 within a record 45 days of its launch. The Chinese company hopes to keep that momentum going with the Redmi 4A, which brings features such as VoLTE and a 13-megapixel rear camera to the budget segment. Will the new Xiaomi Redmi 4A priced at Rs.5999 be as big a hit for the company? We try to find out in our gaming review.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A

In this review, I am gonna play the following games: Dead Trigger 2, Asphalt 8 and Nova 3. As you know these are very heavy games, so let’s check out how the Xiaomi Redmi 4A performs with these.(All Image credits to Geeky Ranjith )

Dead Trigger 2

The screen quality is decent as you can see in the below pics. This budget-oriented phone is running Dead Trigger 2 with no issues. Since this phone has a good speaker, the audio is crisp and clear. So you will have a good time playing Dead Trigger 2 as its running fine on this Device. So let’s move to heavier games like asphalt 8 and Nova 3.

Asphalt 8

By default asphalt 8 is set to medium settings. So I will play with both medium and high graphics:

Medium: The most part of the game is smooth, but I found a bit lag here and there. But, considering the budget-oriented price, I must say It is doing a pretty good job. Here are some pics in medium quality:

High: It is sluggish as it is dropping a lot of frames, the animation is choppy. So I would prefer to play asphalt at the medium settings and when I checked the temperature, it reached 42°C in the screen whereas it reached a highest of 44.2°C in the rear. But guys this temperature is because of the high graphic settings of asphalt 8. Here are some pics:

Nova 3

It is a surprise that Redmi 4A is handling Nova 3 with no issues. Considering price range of  Rs.6000, the gaming performance is pretty good, as there is no lag at all. When I checked the temperature of the device, the screen hit a maximum of 41.9°C, and the rear side hit a maximum of 43.5°C. Here are some of the best pics:

I would say the gaming performance was flawless, but considering the price point of this device i.e. just Rs 5999, I have to say the gaming performance was pretty good. Also, one more thing that you have to keep in mind is that this device has an internal memory of 16gb, and only about 9gb is user available, so after installing these big three games I have just 2gb of space remaining. So you should keep a watch on your internal space while installing these games.
